In the 2021-2022 school year, Project Lotus will be expanding our chapter system to more high schools! We are looking for passionate advocates who want to change the narrative surrounding mental health in AAPI communities. Starting a Project Lotus chapter is a way for you to raise awareness and advocate in local AAPI communities with the resources and support of Project Lotus.

What do chapters do?

Project Lotus chapters host weekly meetings and work on monthly projects. These include finding local resources for your community, hosting discussion events with your school administration, gathering data about mental health of students to make real change in your schools, and more. These projects have a chance to make an impact and rally AAPI youth. We have fun activities planned for club members as well!

How Project Lotus will support you:

We will provide structure in formulating your chapter, but this is not a restrictive opportunity—chapter leads will have the chance to develop their own direction to specific meet the needs of their communities. We will provide support in developing chapter activities, compiling resources to facilitate projects, and establishing a strong chapter infrastructure and brand.

What is the commitment?

Leaders are expected to plan meetings, host events, and manage members. We hope commitment is based on drive and your passion for our mission, but we estimate leads will need to contribute a minimum of 4 hours per week.

I’m interested; how can I get involved?

We encourage chapter leadership to consist of at least two people per chapter. If you know others from the same school who would like to start a chapter with you, fill out the application separately, but indicate that you would like to start one together. However, if you do not know anybody else, feel free to fill out the application alone. Do keep in mind that, if you are selected to begin a chapter, we will ask that you seek additional leadership members.
